Tottenham Table New Parker Bid
According to the Daily Star, Tottenham have made an improved offer of 12 million pounds for West Ham midfielder Scott Parker after seeing an initial bid of seven million pounds quickly rejected.
Analysis: West Ham co-owner David Sullivan recently said Parker wasn’t for sale at any price, so that would seem to indicate that even 12 million would be rebuffed without a thought.
Birmingham Close on Derbyshire
Birmingham City are set to sign Olympiakos striker Matt Derbyshire, as terms have been agreed for the former Blackburm man to return to England on a season-long loan deal that includes an option to buy. (News of the World)
Analysis: He showed promise in the Premier League before moving to Greece. He’ll come back to England better for the move, having earned Champions League experience and getting to be involved in pressure situations like European football and intense derby matches with Panathinaikos and AEK Athens.
Blackburn Trial Perea

Analysis: Perea has some experience playing in an elite European league, as he made 38 appearances for Bordeaux from 2005-07, and though that experience wasn’t a great success, it could serve as motivation.for him to come in and prove that he is ready for another crack at elite European football.

Analysis: Even Jose Mourinho would know that 10 million is far short of what Drogba is worth, even considering his age, so no, no, and more no.
Sergio Set For Espanyol Switch
Spanish reports say that Espanyol have agreed a fee of 1.8 million euros for Real Betis striker Sergio Garcia. (Goal.com)
Analysis: Espanyol were dead last in La Liga in scoring last season, netting only 29 goals all season. Garcia’s a proven commodity in the top flight, and his addition will be a big boost for Espanyol’s hopes to improve upon last season’s 11th place finish.

Analysis: This move would seem to increase the likelihood that Dani Guiza, who’s been linked with Blackburn recently, will leave the club in the next two weeks. Niang is30, but as he was a bit of a late bloomer, he’s still in his prime.
