The Philip Hobbs-trained MAJESTIC MERLIN has been campaigned solely in the West County where the majority of the racecourses are right-handed. He failed to score from eight goes in bumpers/hurdles but made the frame on several occasions and ran well on his chase debut at Exeter in December, finishing a 12-length third. He jumped straight at most of the fences that day but went markedly out to his left when beating only one home at Wincanton next time and did so again when third at Taunton on his most recent outing. It’s surprising to see him asked to race right-handed again and he can be opposed at a short price (6-4 favourite with Spreadex at the time of writing). Sell in the 50-25-10 race market.
