Manchester United’s dreams of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford in 2015 have been all but buried by the players’ agent.
Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes told Radio Cadena Cope that that 29-year old will retire in Madrid.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for their former player in recent weeks, but his agent Mendes said:
“You will never meet another like him. It is becoming harder and it will be harder and harder until his 40th birthday. Cristiano is very happy at Real Madrid and he was always very happy. It will break all the records that there beating Real Madrid and he retires here.
“He’s the love of Manchester United because his heart was there six years. But now he only thinks about the Real Madrid and it will stay here forever. He is very happy. It’s one thing to respect people who remember him, but he is killed with Real Madrid. (…) Offers? I do not get because people know it is impossible to remove Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid, so it’s not worth the trouble to call to inquire.”
Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Real Madrid from Manchester United in the summer of 2009 for a then world record transfer fee of £80 million.
Ronaldo is also on course to break a number of other records, including the all-time Real Madrid top scorer record and the all-time Champions League top scorer. A move to Manchester United now may appear to be at a bad time in terms of personal achievements.
