Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has revealed that Louis Van Gaal asked the players to ignore the home fans during their match against CSKA.
Recently the team was booed off the pitch by the Old Trafford faithful and Van Gaal has apparently asked his players to be patient and ignore the opinion of the crowd in order to get a positive result.
“Just keep going and perform the same as the first half – be patient, ignore the fans and keep playing your own game”, said Lingard (on what Van Gaal told the players)
Manchester United fans have been unhappy with how their side have played in the recent weeks and Van Gaal’s decision to play Martial on the wing in order to accommodate Wayne Rooney has been particularly frustrating.
Manchester United secured a crucial win against CSKA in the midweek thanks to a later winner from Wayne Rooney.
The Old Trafford outfit had drawn their previous three matches including two 0-0 results.
Van Gaal’s philosophy has been severely criticised this season after it was revealed that Manchester United play the most boring football in the Premier League.
It will be interesting to see how the United fans react to Lingard’s revelation that the manager does not care about their opinions.
