Progeny of Toronado have a 29 from 175 record on Tapeta for a profit of £56.01 to a £1 level stake and 25-1 shot RUSSIAN VIRTUE could appreciate the switch to this surface for the first time. The gelding ran a good race on his hurdling debut at Plumpton in December, finishing second at 28-1, and today’s 2m trip will bring his stamina into play.

Progeny of the sire Fastnet Rock are 20 from 104 at this venue for a profit of £34.40 to a £1 level stake at SP and they also do well on Wolverhampton’s Tapeta surface, landing 29 of their 167 starts for profit of £20.73. FIGURES ran a promising race at Wolverhampton on her racecourse debut earlier this month, finding only Roger Varian’s 6-45 favourite Seven Pockets too good, and she can go one better here.

Jane Chapple-Hyam has a great record with last-time-out winners, scoring with 28 of the 116 qualifiers since the beginning of 2015 (24.1% strike-rate) for a profit of £67.31 to a £1 level stake at SP. INTERNATIONALANGEL arrives here in the back of a Chelmsford four-timer for her current yard (see also won on her final outing for Robert Stephens) and the return to Tapeta is unlikely to be an issue.
