Liverpool star Raheem Sterling has been linked with several moves away from Anfield over the last few months. The former QPR youth player has been outstanding for Liverpool this season and has been one of the best players at the club.
There has been reports that the England attacker is set to sign a new deal at Liverpool, however the club has yet to announce something regarding Sterling’s contract situation.
According to Spanish media, European Champions Real Madrid have been tracking the Liverpool youngster for a while now and are looking to take advantage of his contract situation this summer. Further, talkSPORT’s La Liga expert Paul Breen-Turner stated earlier that Sterling is set to leave Anfield in the summer and Real Madrid is his destination.
“Raheem Sterling will be next (to leave) because I am hearing he will be gone from Liverpool and will probably be at Real Madrid next season”, he said.
While it is expected that a mercurial talent like Sterling will be courted by clubs like Real Madrid, it is nearly impossible to see Liverpool letting go of their most prized asset, especially after selling Luis Suarez last summer.
Sterling, who won the European golden boy award last month, has been in sensational form for the Reds and has been tipped to become the next big thing in world football.
While there is always a possibility of the best players in the world joining the likes of Madrid and Barcelona, it is perhaps too soon for Sterling to take the next step. The Liverpool forward would benefit from another few years under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers and a guaranteed first team berth.
As far as Real Madrid are concerned, maybe in five years time.
