Liverpool have confirmed their midfielder Cameron Brannagan has signed a new deal on Tuesday.

The teenager has been with the Merseyside club since the age of five and made his first-team debut during the Europa League clash against Bordeaux. Former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers gave several youngsters a chance to break into the first team and he continued the same with the 19-year-old as well.

A statement read on the club’s official website read, “Cameron Brannagan has today extended his contract with Liverpool. The 19-year-old midfielder has been with the Academy since the age of five and is captain of the U21s.”

According to the Liverpool ECHO, Brannagan has penned a deal which will keep him at Anfield until 2018. He has not featured for Liverpool U21’s clash against Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur.

It is believed Liverpool’s new manager Jurgen Klopp has been closely watching the talented midfielder during the training sessions at Melwood. He will be hoping to make an appearance when Liverpool face Bournemouth in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup clash later this midweek.
