January transfer plans for the Premier League clubs seem to be well underway as the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea continue to look for defenders.
Louis Van Gaal is keen to address his defensive crisis and is looking to sign a full back after Luke Shaw’s unfortunate injury. The England international could be sidelined for up-to ten months, following a leg break.
Van Gaal will be forced to play centre backs as full backs due to the lack of defensive depth and the Dutchman is already considering alternatives.
According to reports in the English media, Manchester United have already begun the search for their Luke Shaw replacement and are eyeing up a move for Leeds left back, Charlie Taylor.
Furthermore, Manchester United have also been linked with the Barcelona left back, Adriano. Apparently, Van Gaal has a close relationship with the player and is looking to bring him to Old Trafford in January.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are looking to fix their disastrous start to the season by signing a better full back than Branislav Ivanovic.
One of the best right backs in the league last season, the Serbian has struggled immensely so far and has cost his side valuable points. Initially Mourinho decided to persist with the player, but the Portuguese seems to have lost faith now.
According to the Daily Mirror, Jose Mourinho has asked his scouts to find him an able replacement for Ivanovic.
It is believed that the Premier league Champions are looking to sign Valencia left back, Jose Luis Gaya.
The Spanish left back is valued at around 45 million euros and is regarded as one of the best young full backs in the world.
Links with Gaya seem confusing, considering Chelsea just signed a talented left back in Baba Rahman. The former Augsburg player was signed for 20 million euros and has impressed in his first Champions League start this week.
In other rumours, Mesut Ozil is apparently considering a move away from Arsenal.
According to his agent, Ozil has a serious offer from Fenerbahce and the player will assess his options at the end of the season.
