LEICESTER JOCKEYS

There’s been a huge bias on the hurdles course at Leicester this season, favouring those who race wide throughout. SAM TWISTON-DAVIES cottoned on quickly and was one of only two jockeys to taking the scenic route when landing a two-mile handicap hurdle on ROBINSHILL on November 15^th (runner-up Peckinpah, ridden by Tom Bellamy, was the other wide runner). HARRY SKELTON on the other hand, has been incredibly slow on the uptake, taking the inside route on the majority of his mounts. He was beaten on 4-5 favourite Lydford at the November 15^th meeting and tasted defeat on all four mounts last week (November 28^th), at odds of 4-11, evens, 9-4 and 13-2. It’s possible the penny was finally dropping by the time of his fourth mount, he tracked a little wider in the home straight, but I’d still be wary about taking short odds about his rides today, assuming the same bias is in play. I did consider selling Skelton but getting with Sam Twiston-Davies in the LEICESTER JOCKEYS MARKET (his performance index is set at 26-28) looks the angle. CHELMSFORD 5.00

HOLLIE DOYLE hasn’t got the greatest record in small fields (seven or fewer runners) at Chelmsford, scoring on just seven of her 81 mounts for a loss of £46.13 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 13.19). NOTORIOUSLY RISKY (20-23 on the spreads and 11-4 second favourite in the Spreadex fixed odds betting) could be one to oppose this evening. Archie Watson’s filly is only fourth best on last-time-out speed and could prove vulnerable in this five-runner novice contest.
