Paddy Power Champion Hurdle Tips

Well, if HONEYSUCKLE @ 1/5 with LiveScore Bet tastes defeat for the first time in her career here it will be one of the biggest horse racing shocks in recent times.

This Henry De Bromhead-trained 8 year-old has notched up 15 straight wins over hurdles and the latest of those victories was in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham last month.

She bolted up by 3 1/2 lengths that day and in what looks a much easier race it should be more of the same here, being she’s also the top-rated in the field and also gets the handy 7lbs mares’ allowance again from all bar Echoes In Rain.

Add in that Honeysuckle is also the current champ in this race then it really is impossible to even find a glimmer of hope if you’re looking to oppose her at short odds.

Therefore, the option for many here will be to try and find the horse that will finish second and play in the forecast market. Teahupoo was well behind Honeysuckle in the Champion Hurdle last time but prior to that had done well to win three times so is a contender.

But, the safer call looks to be the Mullins-trained Saint Roi @ 10/1 with LiveScore Bet, who ran a blinder to be fourth in the Champion Hurdle and despite being beaten 7 1/4 lengths that day, it’s still the best recent form on offer outside Honeysuckle.
