There are a total of 88 football stadiums being used in Spain by clubs in all leagues. 59 of those have been used in the La Liga since its inception in 1929.

Out of those, only two are not used by any club: Estadio Olimpico La Cartuja in Seville and Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Barcelona. Estadio La Cartuja is used by the Spanish national team. even though both of the stadiums are among the biggest in Spain with capacities of 57,000+ and 55,000+ respectively.

In the inaugural season, ten teams participated in the league. Athletic Bilabao’s San Mames, and Real Union’s Stadium Gal are the only two stadiums that were used in the first ever La Liga season and are still being used today.

SD Compostela’s San Lazaro became the 50th La Liga stadium. The latest stadium to be added in the list of La Liga stadiums was Estadio Chapin, home of Xerez CD when they qualified for La Liga in 2009-10.
