According to reports from Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri is close to join Russian club Spartak Moscow. The report claims that Bayern Munich have received an offer close to €20m and the Swiss International has reportedly said ‘yes’ to the move.
We had earlier reported that the Bavarians were willing to let go the midfielder for a loan deal but it is now believed that the German giants want to cash in for the player who has found his game time limited at the Allianz Arena outfit.
Liverpool were earlier in advanced negotiations for Shaqiri and had even planned to meet his representatives over a possible move to Anfield but the deal never materialized. Italian side Roma were also interested for sealing the move for the player but the deal reportedly fell off.
Shaqiri has endured a difficult time in Germany after signing from Basel making only 26 Bundesliga appearances in his debut season. Under Pep Guardiola last season, Shaqiri made 16 appearances including 10 starts. However the midfielder did come on the final half hour in Bayern’s 2-1 win over Wolfsburg which kick started their 2014-15 season.
