Bayern Munich have denied the prospect of sending Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri on loan to Italian side Napoli. Reports last night from the trusted and reliable media outlet Football-Italia have quoted Shaqiri’s agent Ulysses Savini who claimed that his client will not make a loan move in January. Savini said in an interview with Radio CRC, “I spoke with Napoli about Shaqiri. However, Bayern Munich won’t accept a loan deal”.

Shaqiri’s future has come under intense speculations over the past summer with English giants Liverpool also interested in the player. Though Liverpool were in advanced negotiations a deal failed to materialize. Moreover, Roma were close to acquire the services of the 23 year old  but the player ultimately stayed put at the Bavarian giants.

Savini however said there is possibility that the winger will make a transfer move in January. “I’m offering Shaqiri to several Italian clubs, and I’ve spoken to Napoli and other teams. Also, if Shaqiri were to leave Bayern Munich it would be to play more.”

What does this mean for Shaqiri’s future? Let us look at the situation from two points of views.

Huge Blow for Napoli after Insigne’s injury: There is no doubt that Rafa Benitez will be disappointed over the recent developments. Lorenzo Insigne has been ruled out of the season thanks to a rupture of the anterior cruciate in his right knee. Thus Shaqiri would have been a great temporary solution till the end of the season. Moroever, Shaqiri would have been an upgrade to the majority of the existing players and would have helped the Partenopei in their title charge in the Serie A. Also the Naples based outfit don’t have the required €20m to sign him on a permanent deal.

Boost to Liverpool and other potential suitors: Shaqiri isn’t expected to get any game time soon at the Allianz Arena outfit and it’s safe to say that his future is over at Munich. Liverpool have been linked with the player and could make a swoop for the World Cup star in January. He would no doubt lift the spirits of a so-far poor Reds side who have struggled throughout this season.

So where will be Shaqiri’s next destination? Or will he stay put till the summer before making a move? We can only speculate but an interesting January transfer window awaits.
