According to reports in the Italian media, Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Xherdan Shaqiri.
Inter Milan’s Erick Thohir is set to travel to Germany later today to finalise an agreement with Bayern Munich for the permanent transfer of the Swiss midfielder.
Shaqiri has been courted by several European heavyweights, including the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. Liverpool, especially have shown concrete interest in the Bayern winger after having spoken to the player’s camp last summer.
According to reports earlier this month, the Merseyside outfit submitted an offer for the Bayern midfielder. However, Shaqiri believes that he might not be a first team regular at Anfield with the likes of Sterling, Lallana, Markovic already at the club and therefore, he prefers a move to Inter Milan, who are believed to have given him first team assurances.
Manager Roberto Mancini is a keen admirer of the former Basel man and is looking to strengthen his side by signing the explosive winger.
Shaqiri has grown increasingly frustrated at Bayern Munich due to the lack of first team soccer and is keen to secure a move away from the Allianz Arena, in a bid to kickstart his stagnating career.
Journalist, Fabrizio Romano, part of the Di Marzio staff, earlier confirmed that Shaqiri is interested in a move to Inter and Liverpool are waiting to find out if they have a chance of landing the Swiss winger this January.
