Memphis Depay was the man of the moment at Old Trafford tonight as the Dutch attacker scored a stunning brace and assisted a third to give United a vital win in their Champions league qualifier against Club Brugge.
Manchester United went 1-0 down seven minutes into the game when Michael Carrick deflected the ball into his own net from a Brugge free-kick.
Five minutes later, Depay brought United on level terms with an excellent goal. The former PSV man received a long ball from Carrick and displayed outstanding technique and control to bring it inside and smash a low drive past the keeper.
Depay gave United the lead close to half time with a stunning in swinger from the edge of the box.
Manchester United wrapped up proceedings with a goal from Fellaini at stroke of full time. The Belgian headed in from close range after a cracking cross from Memphis Depay, the man of the match.
Later manager Louis Van Gaal spoke of his delight at Memphis’ performance: “I want to kiss him tonight”.
