When German Television media Sport 1 claimed last week that Manchester United had submitted an insane €100m bid for Bayern Munich forward / striker / winger / attacking midfielder Thomas Muller, many took it with a pinch of salt.

The British newspapers, merely did a follow up story based on that report, and so doubt lingered – doubt, not relating to United’s interest in the player, but on the price quoted.

German tabloid Bild however claims today that Manchester United indeed have submitted a €100m bid for Muller. Clark Whitney, a Bundesliga football expert, added that Bild would only publish such story based on their information, when they’re absolutely confident about the report.

Moving to the report, it is basically the same old story, with little added information from Bild. Muller holds a special relationship with Louis van Gaal. Manchester United are trying to tempt Bayern with an audacious bid, but the club has refused to sell the German international this summer.

Bayern had previously rejected a €82m offer for Muller, which forced the club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to comment that the club would not sell any more stars to Manchester United. Bayern have already sold German skipper Bastian Schweinsteiger to United a week ago.

“The Bundesliga has to finally act. The English are overtaking us left, right and centre. When taking into account transfer market activity, in marketing terms, in TV money – anywhere, really,” he said to Bild, via The Guardian.

“The Bundesliga has to be careful not to fall further behind, I think. Anyone who follows the transfer market at the moment, within which English clubs work, knows their clubs are being fully upgraded. The Bundesliga has to be careful that we’re not emptied out.”

The only added info Bild adds is that Muller camp appreciates the offer from United. Nothing more. We have to add to wait and find how the saga unfolds.
