West Ham are reported to be lining up a move for out of favor Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater according to The Mirror.
Drinkwater who played a starring role for Leicester City during their Premier League winning 2015-16 season earned himself a move to Chelsea last summer.
Things however did not go according to plan for the 28-year-old during his first season at Stamford Bridge.
He went on to make just 12 Premier League appearances for the club and scored one goal.
He subsequently payed the price by not being included in the England squad which played at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
With Maurizio Sarri now managing Chelsea, it appears that Drinkwater could have no future at the club and a move away from the Blues may just be what he needs now to kick-start his career.
The Hammers have so far enjoyed a successful transfer window but are still looking to bolster their midfield and the addition of Drinkwater could be good especially as they will have to do without the services of Manuel Lanzini for the upcoming months due to injury.
Drinkwater and Jack Wilshere could work well together in the heart of midfield for Manuel Pellegrini’s side next term.
