The Proform Racing software gives each horse a pace rating based on its running styles in recent races and, since the beginning of last season, those ranked 1, 2 or 3 have a 35 from 204 record (17.2%) for a profit of £135.89. How to profit from this bias is the tricky part – buying RACECARD No1s with Spreadex is one option, as several of the qualifiers today are at the top of the racecard. However, I’ve opted to buy the performance of jockey ROB HORNBY (market set at 34-37), who rides three of the qualifiers – ECHO CHAMBER (1.35), CONVECTION (2.45) and UNDER FOX (4.25).
