He finished runner-up at Haydock (16-1 and 15-2) in his first two starts for Jimmy Moffatt after leaving Gavin Cromwell in Ireland before finding Class 2 company too hot at the same venue. Progeny of the sire The Last Lion don’t have the greatest record on turf and though LIANGEL HOPE bucked the trend when scoring at Redcar on his penultimate start, it looks as though he was flattered. He made all on the pace-favouring track to record an 11-10 success that day, but it was a very weak contest and he could only finish fourth at Newmarket next time, over six lengths behind the winner. The Redcar runner-up and third were also beaten next time and he could struggle in first-time cheekpieces today, especially as there are other pace angles in the line-up. He looks too short in the betting today (7-2 with Spreadex) and can be sold in the 50-25-10 market.
