Germany’s World Cup winning midfielder Toni Kroos has completed his switch to Real Madrid on Thursday.
The 24-year-old had one year left on his contract with Bayern Munich and decided to end his time in his homeland after turning down a new deal. Kroos was linked with a move to Old Trafford, while the Red Devils’ league rivals Chelsea were also interested in securing a deal for the player.
Meanwhile, Kroos has thanked his former club and Bayern players on his official Facebook page.
“Hi it’s official folks,: I leave Bayern Munich and I am a Real Madrid player now. FC Bayern Munich I thank you for a wonderful time,” Kroos said.
“Since I’ve met the decision to switch to FC Bayern with 16 years I was proud to be a player of this great club every single day.”
“On the side of many outstanding players such as Philipp Lahm, I have had great success, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose, Luca Toni and Franck Ribery.”
“Many private and sporting memories come to mind. Especially the triple remains safe forever in the memory you and me in the year 2013,” he added.
