Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of Olympique Lyonnais forward Clinton Njie, subject to international clearance and the player receiving a work permit.
A statement on Spurs’ official website read: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Clinton Njie from Olympique Lyonnais, subject to international clearance and the player receiving a work permit.”
With Roberto Soldado’s departure to Villarreal confirmed yesterday, Tottenham have wasted little time in bringing in a replacement for the Spaniard. The deal was confirmed by the player via social media in an Instagram post on Thursday.
The 22-year-old played 33 times for Lyon last season, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists which helped Les Gones to a second placed finish in Ligue 1.
Njie is a Cameroon international, having made his national team debut last year. Thus far, he has played 11 times for the Indomitable Lions and has six goals to his name.
He has signed a deal which will keep him at the north London club until 2020, and will be expected to provide back up to Spurs’ first choice striker Harry Kane, who scored 31 goals in 2014/15.
