Manchester United camp are in jubilant mood at the moment. The Red Devils are on the verge of signing Angel di Maria from Real Madrid and could delve into the market to sign two or more players before the window shuts.
Last week, Marcos Rojo joined United from Sporting. The Argentine defender can play as a left back but he will be used in the three man central defence by Louis van Gaal.
Many felt that United probably need one more top class defender this summer. The club was heavily linked with a move for Roma’s Mehdi Benatia with Italian media reporting earlier this week that United officials had held talks as well with Roma.
However, with Manchester United turning all their attentions towards signing Angel di Maria, it seems Bayern Munich have won the race for Benatia.
GDS report today that Bayern have offered around €26m upfront plus €4m bonuses to secure the deal. Benatia will fly to Germany within next 24 hours to secure his move.
Roma have already lined up an option to replace Benatia. The Italian giants are close to signing Greece international Kostas Manolas, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal this summer.
