According to reports from Italian Media Outlet Calcio Mercato, Serie A Champions Juventus are looking to advantage of Borussia Dortmund’s poor start to the Bundesliga season. Dortmund currently lie 17th, just a place above the foot of the standings after a disastrous run of form. With each defeat, it is becoming tough for the Jurgen Klopp led side to keep prized asset Marco Reus at the club. Should Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, Reus could well head toward the exit.
The report claims that Bayern Munich are in pole position to sign the midfielder while English clubs Liverpool and Manchester City are also in the queue for the 25 year old. Nouveau Riche French outfit Monaco are also in the list of potential suitors while Serie A Champions Juventus are also interested. It is believed that Reus has a transfer buyout clause in his contract.
Dortmund President and CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke recently spoke on Reus contract situation, “Buyout clause ? Well, without a clause Marco would not come even to Borussia Dortmund, but when you make a decision about his future, this time we’ll know before us and then the media. Reus will not go away in January, I’m sure 105%, but will surely be hard to keep him if the team did not qualify for the next Champions League . “ There have been tensions between Bayern Munich and Dortmund over Reus over the past few months. The Bavarian giants have already signed Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski in recent months and Dortmund surely wouldn’t want to lose Reus to the reigning Bundesliga Champions.
Should Juventus not be able to lure Reus to the Serie A, the Bianconeri are also looking at the possibility to sign Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri. Reus’ likely arrival at Bayern Munich would surely mean that the Swiss midfielder’s career would come to an end at the Allianz Arena.
