Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has claimed that he won’t be returning to Chelsea as long as Jose Mourinho is in charge of the London club. The 23 year old Belgian has been in stunning form this season for the German side, and we had reported earlier that both Manchester United and Manchester City are keen for his services, with some media outlets exploring a potential return to Chelsea as well.

De Bruyne was sold by Chelsea last summer to Wolfsburg for £18m and he has become a key player for the club as they finished second in the Bundesliga standings. The Belgian said to German paper Sport Bild as quoted by Daily Express, “I think, to be honest, that I would not return to Chelsea as long as he [Mourinho] is in charge. I know that I like the Bundesliga, and it always did me good. But I don’t fear to return to England, or to play in Spain. I believe I can make it there.”

The Mirror also report that Manchester City are keen to land the player by offering £35m but Belgian paper HLN suggests that Wolfsburg would demand €60m for De Bruyne. Reportedly, Man City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain has already held talks with the player’s agent while French Champions PSG are also rumoured to be interested.

Also speaking about Bayern Munich’s interest in him, the midfielder said, “If it’s like that [with Munich interested] then Bayern have to talk to Wolfsburg. Then those responsible will know what the deal is.” De Bruyne has had a stunning season having scored 15 goals and grabbed 25 assists in 45 appearances this campaign.

Should either of the Manchester sides sign De Bruyne, he could show what Chelsea have missed out on as they preferred to let a player with great potential go for a cheap fee.
