Real Madrid have agreed a deal in principle with Bayern Munich for the sale of their midfielder Xabi Alonso to the Allianz Arena.
A report from the Daily Star suggested that Premier League giants Manchester United and the midfielder’s former club Liverpool. However, the 32-year-old has rejected a chance to return to England and has agreed to join the Bundesliga winners.
A statement on Bayern’s official website read, ” Shortly before the summer transfer window ends and following the signing of Mehdi Benatia, FC Bayern are poised to announce another star acquisition.”
“Germany’s biggest club and 32-year-old Spanish world and European champion Xabi Alonso have “agreed in principle” on the midfielder joining Munich from Real Madrid, Bayern deputy chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen informed a press conference at the club’s Säbener Strasse HQ on Thursday.”
