Former Chelsea player, Arjen Robben has urged Kevin De Bruyne to reject the advances of Manchester City and continue at Wolfsburg.
The Bayern Munich star claimed that he relishes facing top players in the Bundesliga and that he would happy if clubs like Dortmund and Wolfsburg held onto their best players.
Although the Dutch winger stated that the lack of competition would be good for his side, he also stressed on his desire to prove himself against the very best.
“I want the good players of other clubs to stay in the Bundesliga,” the Bayern winger toldĀ Algemeen Dagblad.
“You could think: Mats Hummels could move, Ilkay Gundogan could moveĀ or Marco ReusĀ could moveĀ from [Borussia] Dortmund, or Kevin De Bruyne could goĀ from Wolfsburg, and that would be fine, because the competition gets weakened. But I want as much resistance as possible and I want the competition to be as attractive as possible.
“Since I’ve been at Bayern, I have seen the Bundesliga grow. The football is alive here. I don’t want it to become lesser.”
Further, Robben also commented on the spending power of English teams, claiming that they can sign anyone they wanted.
“The kind of money English clubs have available to spend is unbelievable. They buy everything they can,” he added.
According to The Times, Manchester City are prepared to offer 47 million pounds and a contract of 230,000 pounds per week for Kevin De Bruyne.
