The transfer rumours surrounding Robert Lewandowski will never end until he signs with some other club in the summer or in the January transfer window. Chelsea, Man City, Manchester United and Arsenal – all the club are linked with Lewandowski at some point of time in the last few months, but as per latest reports from Spain, Chelsea and Real Madrid are genuine contenders to land him, along with German giants Bayern Munich.
On September it was revealed in Germany’s newspaper Bild that Lewandowski would join Bayern Munich at the end of the season, but the player himself has never made it clear, which has given birth to wild speculations about his future.
According to Spanish newspaper El Confidential, Chelsea and Real Madrid are front runners to sign the Polish striker. According to the report, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wanted Lewandowski last season and did make a phone call to Dortmund placing an offer. Reinhard Rauball, president of the German club wanted to keep him on the team, but Lewandowski wants a move away as he is keen to get more exposure elsewhere.
Reinhard doesnot want to lose Lewandowski for nothing but most importantly doesn’t want to lose the striker to their rivals Bayern Munich. In such a situation, he would be willing to sell the player to either of Chelsea or Real Madrid.
According to Transfermarket.com, Lewandowski could cost around €39m but given his contract situation, Dortmund could be willing to do any business for around £20-25m. Real Madrid are willing to pay €4m/year salary as per the report while Mourinho wants him at any cost at the Bridge.
