Liverpool take on Burton Albion in the Capital One Cup later today and the Reds will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat against Burnley at the weekend.
After a morale-boosting win over Arsenal in the opening weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s side crashed to a 2-0 loss against the newly promoted side at Turf Moor.
Liverpool made it to the finals of the Capital One Cup last season and Klopp will be hoping to go one step further this time. The Merseyside giants have often been complacent against the lesser sides and it will be interesting to see how they bounce back after an embarrassing performance a few days ago.
Meanwhile, Burton will have to work hard to exploit Liverpool’s weaknesses. The Championship side are going through a rough patch and have won just one of their last five in normal time.
Burton v Liverpool: Team News
Burton Albion are set to be without their key midfielder John Mousinho for this game. The 30-year old will miss the game with a hamstring injury. Other absentees include John Brayford. The defender is cup-tied and cannot play against Liverpool.
Clough will be delighted with the return of Kyle McFadzean and Tom Flanagan. Both players should return from their respective injuries here.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are set to welcome Moreno, Can, Matip, Grujic and Alexander-Arnold back into the starting lineup.
Loris Karius is still recovering from his hand injury and will miss the next few games. Daniel Sturridge is fit for this game, but Divock Origi is expected to start.
Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez, Lucas Leiva and Sheyi Ojo are still not ready to return. Sadio Mane is unlikely to be risked either.
