Bayern Munich v Stuttgart
German Bundesliga
Allianz Arena – Munich, Germany
27 March 2010 – 14:30 GMT
Bayern Munich looks to keep their slim lead at the top of the Bundesliga while Stuttgart makes a final push for a spot in Europe.
Bayern Munich v Stuttgart Preview
Bayern Munich has won their last five matches and has a one point lead over 2nd place Schalke in the table. Stuttgart is in 8th place and 7 points from the last Europa League spot. After making a succesful run into the round of 16 in the Champions League, Stuttgart has to finish very strong to earn another spot in Europe.
Bayern are undefeated at the Alliazn Arena (10-4-0) and have a +18 goal difference. They have a talented roster but Arjen Robben has proven to be one of the key players in recent weeks. Robben scored the match winner in extra time in the German Cup on Wednesday and has five goals in his last six matches. With the Champions League coming up next week, Bayern could rest a few players including midfielder Franck Ribery.
Stuttgart were in danger of relegation earlier in the season but have been one of the best teams in the Bundesliga in the last few months. They need to continue this form to close the gap on the top teams. They have won three away matches in a row but it’s been over a decade since they won at Munich.
Bayern will have one-eye on the Champions League quartefinal 1st leg against Manchester United which should give Stuttgart a good shot to break their winless streak. It should be a very competitive match.
