Bayern Munich v Hamburg
German Bundesliga
Allianz Arena – Munich, Germany
28 February 2010 – 16:30 GMT
Two of the top teams in the German Bundesliga meet on Sunday, February 27, 2010 as Bayern Munich hosts Hamburg at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich v Hamburg Preview
Bayern and Hamburg are two of the most successful clubs in Germany but neither have won the Bundesliga in recent years. Bayern have an strong 8-4-0 record at home with a commanding +16 goal difference. Hamburg has been almost a strong on the road with only one loss and a 4-6-1 record. Bayern is second in the league but tied on points with leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Hamburg is in 4th place, five points behind 3rd, and one ahead of Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern Munich is 5-1-0 since the winter break and is good position to challenge for the league title. Hamburg is looking to hold onto a Europa League spot and recently advanced to the round of 16 in that competition. Munich are in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 and have a 2-1 lead heading into the second leg.
Hamburg will be without new signing Ruud Van Nistelrooy for the match because of an injury. Bayern will be getting midfielder Franck Ribery back who missed last weekend’s match because of an injury.
It should be one of the better matches in the Bundesliga in the entire season and a win by Bayern could lift them to the top of the table (depending on Leverkusen’s result). Hamburg will have a tough test and will probably be aiming for a draw.
Bayern Munich v Hamburg Prediction
Bayern are the stronger team and will keep their undefeated home record alive with a 2-1 victory.
