Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus has yet to sign a new deal at the club.Ā Sport Bild claim that Manchester United and Manchester CityĀ are competing for the German superstar.

It seems like Marco Reus is determined to leave Dortmund next summer or in the January transfer window. According to Sport Bild, Dortmund had tried to convince him to sign a new contract at the club, but the talisman attacking midfielder rejected all temptations thrownĀ at him.

Dortmund offered himĀ ā‚¬8m/year deal without any releaseĀ clause, and was asked to give his decision within 31st October, but that lucrative offer was rejected as well.Ā

As it stands, Reus has a contract with Dortmund till 2017, but he can leave the club next summer forĀ ā‚¬25m only, a cheap deal for a player of his caliber.Ā

Reus is injured at the moment and doesn’t want to talk about any contract negotiations. He said recently:Ā “I will now address the rehabilitation.Ā Everything else isĀ secondary.”

The German international has been targeted by Spanish giants Real Madrid as well, and it was reported in the media that the reigning European champions haveĀ first option on Reus, but yesterdayĀ Borussia Dortmundā€™s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has denied such reports.Ā

ā€œThis is complete nonsense that there is an option right agreement,ā€ said Watzke via Guardian.ā€œMarco alone will decide where he will go. If he decides to make use of the clause there is nothing we can do.ā€

Dortmund are unlikely to sale Reus to Bayern Munich, having already sold two of their best players in Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski previously. In such a scenario, should Reus continue to refuse to sign any new deal, the chances of him moving abroad will increase.

Reus has been linked with Chelsea in the past, but Jose Mourinho has recently confirmed the Blues have no intentions in signing the highly rated German.

Dortmund are struggling badly in the Bundesliga, and are flirting with relegation, sitting bottom in the table. Although, they are likely to recover in the second half of the season, but can they qualify for the Champions League sport remains a big question. And should they fail to do so, expect some of their top players, including Reus, to move elsewhere.
