Bastian Schweinsteiger has yet to commit his future with Bayern Munich, casting more doubts on his own future with the German club.
The Germany world cup winner is undoubtedly a world class midfielder who has been a long term target of Manchester United. Last summer, James Ducker of The Times reported on Manchester United’s interest in the player. This summer is of no exception, as there has been frequent media reports claiming Manchester United’s strong interest in the German superstar.
Sport bild earlier this week, published a report of Manchester United’s strong interest in the German midfielder as well. Continuing on the same theme, Bild has published an article today where they speculated on Schweinsteiger’s future. They ask the question – “how long he remains at the club?”
The player spoke with Karl Heinz Rummenigge and decided to discuss about his future in the summer. He has been at the club since 14, and there will be an attempt from Bayern to tie him at the club with a lucrative contract.
“I have agreed with Mr. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, that we sit down together in the summer. I have no hurry, and one more year contract. Still’s early summer … “
Bild mentions that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants to lure him away from the Allianz Arena and describes the transfer inquest as “stubbornly stick rumours”. Even a move to the United States has been mentioned.
The German midfielder wants to play another two or three years at the highest levels in Europe. Only after that he can think of a career in USA.
Schweinsteiger, has been promoted to the captain’s role after the World Cup, and he wants to lead the German side at the European Championships 2016 in France, preferably as a Bayern Munich player.
The German skipper has a market value of €28m. There is every possibility that he could move to a top European club, and Bayern should therefore try to extend his contract at the earliest.
