According to reports from German media outlet Kicker, Manchester United are reportedly in negotiations with Bayern Munich to sign Brazilian defender Dante. There have already been reports that United and Bayern are in contact over a couple of deals involving Angel Di Maria moving to the Allianz Arena and Bastian Schweinsteiger heading the opposite way.
Kicker claim that the Red Devils have made a “concrete request” to Bayern for the 31 year old Dante as the English side are in the market for new defensive additions this summer. The Old Trafford outfit have already been heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels while Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi has also been mentioned.
Dante is under contract with Bayern until 2017 and could cash in on the player in the summer. This is not the first time that United have been linked with Dante. The Express reports that the Red Devils were also linked with the player in January 2014 when David Moyes was in charge.
Dante though hasn’t been in the best of form for Bayern this season and was heavily criticized for the German side’s 3-1 loss against Porto in the first leg of the quarter finals of the Champions League. Either of Hummels and Otamendi would be a much better signing but manager Louis Van Gaal’s connections with Bayern are seeing United getting linked with a lot of players from Bavaria this summer.
