The goalkeeper needs to leave PSG this summer to play regular first-team football, and he would be a solid acquisition for the Hammers.
West Ham’s first-choice goalie Lukasz Fabianski is 36, and David Moyes needs to plan for a future without him.
The club’s participation in the Europa League next term will stretch their playing resources, and Areola would be a sensible addition.
He was on loan at Fulham last season and was excellent for the Cottagers despite their relegation to the Championship.
The 28-year-old has a contract with PSG until 2023, but he is clearly unwanted and West Ham will be hoping to sign him for a knock-down price.
PSG recently signed Gianluigi Donnarumma and also have Keylor Navas and Sergio Rico at their disposal.
Areola proved his quality in the Premier League last season, and he could be a quality long-term replacement for Fabianski if West Ham can get the deal over the line.
The player knows the league well from his time at Fulham, and he could make an immediate impact for the Hammers next season.
