Will Rafa Benitez get off to a winning start as Real Madrid’s new head coach? The biggest signing the former Liverpool boss has made is Mateo Kovacic from Internazionale, whilst the club have also bought back Casemiro from FC Porto, and goalkeeper Kiko Casilla from Espanyol.
Sporting Gijon were promoted back to the Spanish top flight last season, finishing runners-up to Real Betis.
Real Madrid will be expectant of three points from this fixture to get off to a good start and to give them any chance of finishing above their rivals Barcelona this season with Luis Enrique’s side most people’s favourites to defend their title.
