According to reports in Italian website TMW, Serie A side Roma are closing in on Liverpool target and Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri. Football Italia had reported yesterday that Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is set to meet Shaqiri’s agent to orchestrate the move for the dazzling Swiss sensation.
Shaqiri had a stunning World Cup for Switzerland but the 22 year old has hardly found any significant game time for the Bundesliga Champions after falling down the pecking order thanks to the plethora of Bayern’s talent in midfield.
Premier League giants Liverpool were believed to be in pole position position to acquire Shaqiri’s signature but the reliable and trusted Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the Giallorossi want to reach an agreement soon with the player his brother who is also the player’s agent.
Roma however aren’t willing to meet Bayern’s asking price of €20m for the Swiss but they believe that they can persuade the player to make a move to Rome for a cut price deal from the Allianz Arena outfit.
