It simply hasn’t gone to plan for Filipe Luis at Chelsea. The Brazilian who was signed for £16m from Atletico Madrid in the summer has hardly made an impact for the Stamford Bridge side. The 29 year old has featured in just 11 Premier League appearances, out of which only six times has been a starting eleven berth.
Luis has struggled to displace Cesar Azpilicueta as a first choice left back given that the Spaniard has been in impeccable form. Reports now from the Daily Telegraph claim that Luiz could return to Atletico in the summer if Chelsea do decide to let go the player.
It is believed that Atlético will be more than happy in taking back their former player to the Vicente Calderón Stadium but the report states that Chelsea last month rejected stories from Spain that Luis is unhappy at the club.
It is also believed that Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his defense in the upcoming summer transfer market and is unlikely to sell any player who can play in the back four. However, the situation could drastically change if Luis himself wants to move elsewhere to get enough game-time on the pitch.
