- NFL – Cleveland Browns vs Las Vegas Raiders
- Monday, December 20 at FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, OH
- The game begins at 17:00 EST
- Broadcast live on NFL Network
Two teams in desperate need of a big W to keep their respective playoff pushes alive will duke it out tonight when the Cleveland Browns (7-6 AFC North) take on the Las Vegas Raiders (6-7; AFC West).
A win for the Browns will see Kevin Stefanski’s team move up to T-1st in the division with the Ravens and Bengals (both 8-6) and the Steelers one game behind on 7-6-1 as this ultra-competitive division heads into the home straight.
The Raiders watched on as close division rivals and upcoming opponents the Broncos (7-7) and the Chargers (8-6) lost during Week-15 and will know that a win tonight keeps them in the playoff mix in the AFC West. A loss, on the other hand, will all but put an end to any lingering Las Vegas dreams of a post-season run.
In short, this is a HUGE game! So, for the most recent odds available at BetOnline, a full preview, up to date team news, and our personal selection of NFL Picks read on:

Browns vs Raiders Preview
The last time we got to see the Cleveland Browns in action was in the 24-22 win vs AFC North divisional rival the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday. Cleveland played well in the win. QB Baker Mayfield went 22/32 for 190-yards, two TDs, and just the one pick, and the Browns pass-rush once again put on a show, registering four sacks on Lamar Jackson/Tyler Johnson, including sack number 15.0 of the year for Defensive Player of the Year candidate Myles Garrett.
Unfortunately for fans in the Dawg Pound, the Cleveland depth chart has been ravaged by COVID since then, which is why this game had to be rescheduled.
For a full list of (potential) absentees, see Team News below. However, for the sake of this game preview, it’s impossible not to mention that such stars as QB Baker Mayfield, RB Kareem Hunt, and even QB2 Case Keenum and head coach Kevin Stefanski are expected to miss tonight’s game on COVID-IR.
Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it), COVID seems to have done more damage to the Browns’ offensive locker room than it has the defensive, meaning that coach Stefanski will at least be able to lean on the main components of one of the NFL’s most-feared pass rush departments tonight. Combined, Cleveland ranks 5th in the NFL for sacks (35) and T-5th for QB hits. So, with so many players unavailable, expect to see the Browns defense bring the rush on the regular and keep the ball in RB Nick Chubb’s hands when in possession on offense.
The Raiders turned the ball over five times and were put to the sword by the Chiefs in a crushing, 48-9, defeat at the Arrowhead last time up.
QB Derek Carr had a decent day throwing the ball as always, finishing up with 33/45 for 263-yards, one TD, and one pick, and WR Hunter Renfrow posted yet another +100 (117-yards) yard receiving game. But the Raiders toiled in the red zone and, when your best available players: Carr, Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs each coughs the ball up on offense (4 fumbles in total), it’s hard to win football games.
Still, the Raiders continue to boast one of the NFL’s best pass attacks and rank 2nd in the league for passing yards per game, averaging 287.8-YPG. But, the overall grade of the unit is currently down since its missing TE Darren Waller (643-yards; 2 TDs) who is such a crucial component. The Raiders will miss Waller up against the NFL’s 7th rank pass defense (215-YPG) in Ohio tonight, too, especially given the need for quick releases up against the Cleveland rush.
But, with that said, with so many players missing for the Browns, it’s hard to feel too much sympathy for the Raiders Nation regarding their injured Pro-Bowl TE.
All in all, this is Las Vegas Raiders A vs Cleveland Browns B, making those underdog +120 odds on the traveling Raiders highly appealing.
Browns vs Raiders Team News
The Browns current list of absentees is as follows: QBs Baker Mayfield & Case Keenum, RB Kareem Hunt, WRs Jarvis Landry (ill) &, Anthony Schwartz, TE Austin Hooper, LTs Jedrick Wills Jr., James Hudson III, LDT Malik Jackson, RDT Malik McDowell, RDE Jadeveon Clowney, SS Ronnie Harrison, and RCB Greg Newsome II… and that’s just the absent starters! There are a further 10 or so second/third-string players missing for Kevin Stefanski’s team tonight.
No such problems for the Raiders. Besides the aforementioned Waller who again misses out through a knee injury, only defensive stars MLB Denzel Perryman and CB Nate Hobbs are certain to be missing. Though RDE Carl Nassib is listed as questionable, too.
NFL Picks: Browns vs Raiders
With a long list of absent stars set to sit this one out for the Browns, even on the road at the FirstEnergy Stadium, it’s hard to look past the Raiders tonight.
Expect to see Las Vegas’ offensive weapons do a far better job of looking after the football against a depleted Browns D than they did up against the Chiefs last time out and to run out winners, especially at +120 on the moneyline.
Prediction: Raiders win a close one
