Liverpool looks to recover from a loss to Wigan last week as they host struggling Portsmouth in the English Premier League at Anfield.

Portsmouth are dead last in the English Premier League table and almost definitely going to be relegated to the Championship next season. Liverpool continue to be inconsistent in the Premiership and are chasing a top four finish to remain in the UEFA Champions League for next season. If they are unable to get in the UEFA Champions League for next season, it would be a major financial blow to the Reds.
Liverpool will have have a fit Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres for the match which will be key to turning around their lack of scoring. The Reds have no scored more than two goals in a match since September. Their 0-1 loss at Wigan Athletic was another example of a match they failed to take win that put them farther behind the chase for 4th place. Portsmouth are eight points from being clear and have scored a league low 24 goals in 27 matches. Their 2-2-10 record on the road is not a good sign for Monday’s match.
Liverpool have been better at Anfield with a 10-2-2- record and +21 goal difference. It should be a win for Liverpool as Portsmouth are easily the worst team in the EPL this season.
