Getafe v Real Madrid
Spanish La Liga
Coliseum Alfonso Perez – Getafe, Spain
25 March 2010 – 19:00 GMT
Real Madrid head to face Getafe needing a win to return to the top of the Spanish La Liga table.
Getafe v Real Madrid Preview
Real Madrid head into the match in great form, winning their last 9 La Liga matches, but needing a win to re-take the lead at the top of the table. With Barcelona’s 2-0 win on Wednesday, they are now top of the table. Getafe are in 8th place with 37 points and a strong 8-2-3 home record.
Getafe are five points from the last Europa League spot and a win on Thursday’s match would greatly improve their chances. Real Madrid’s away record is identical to Getafe’s home record. Both teams are facing several injury concerns heading into the match.
The home side is without leading goalscorer Roberto Soldado, Cata Diaz, Miguel Torres, Mario Alvarez, and David Belenguer. Real Madrid has Pepe, Karim Benzema, Kaka, Lassana Diarra, Mahamadou Diarra, Guti, and Royston Drenthe all with injury concerns.
Despite having several injuries, Real Madrid’s top two scorers (Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo) are both available and in good form. Rumors have been going around that Higuain will not be back with the team next year but his performances could change things. He has four goals in the last two matches and leads the club with 20 La Liga matches.
Getafe will have a tough time on Thursday without their top scorer and facing a extremely talented Real Madrid side. It should be a 10th win in a row for Real Madrid who will go back on top of the table.
