Everton star midfielder Marouane Fellaini has said that he will be tempted to stay at the club if Everton secure Champions League football for next season.

His future at the Merseyside club has come under some doubt due to apparent interest in signing him from big clubs due to his form so far this season. Fellaini has started 11 games for the club this season scoring six goals in the process including the winner in Everton’s first game of the season against Manchester United.

Everton are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table, three points behind West Brom in fourth who currently hold the last Champions League place. Fellaini says he wants to play in the Champions League and is prepared to stay with Everton if they make that a possibility.

However, the recent record of Everton suggests they struggle to maintain their consistency over the course of a season and they have been willing to sell top players for the right price in the past such as Wayne Rooney to Manchester United and Joleon Lescott to Manchester City.

It is not an impossible task because Everton finished fourth under David Moyes at the end of the 2004/2005 season which gave them a crack at the Champions League even after they had sold Rooney.

They subsequently went on to lose during the qualification phase for the group stage but the squad and club are in much better shape than they were at this point.

Everton are under no pressure to sell the Belgian international which means any transfer would be delayed until at least after the current Premier League season has finished which gives the club a chance to secure fourth place in what would be arguably the club’s best season under Moyes.
