Everton v Manchester United Preview
Everton continues to be in good form since the start of the new year and desparately needs to continue winning if they want to keep any hopes of top 5 finish alive. Manchester United can put pressure on Chelsea and move to the top of the table (at least temporarily) with a win.
Wayne Rooney scored two goals in the UCL match during the week and will be the main focus of the Everton defense. Everton’s back four has not been as strong as last season and have conceded 36 goals (they conceded only 37 last season) but their defense has picked up in the last month. With Rooney drawing most of the defense’s attention, it will be key for other players to step up to provide the scoring.
Everton’s attack has improved and utilizes speed on the wings with Steven Pienaar on the left and Landon Donovan on the right. Both players will need to stretch the defense to open up space for Louis Saha and Tim Cahill.
Manchester United remain a tough team that can get results anywhere but Everton is playing with confidence. It should be a very competitive match that ultimately ends in a draw.
