The future of Kevin De Bruyne has been well speculated in the media and by the end of this month, it will become all the more clear, whether the Belgian star will remain at Chelsea or not.

The 22-year-old has only made 3 appearances (144 minutes overall) in the Premier League and has really struggled to impress Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. With World Cup approaching, all De Bruyne needs is regular game time. Belgium national team coach Marc Wilmots recently stated that it would be good for the youngster to move elsewhere, even on loan, to boost his confidence while the player himself insisted that lack of game time is hampering his progress.

Further, Chelsea star Eden Hazard has poured oil to the fire by stating De Bruyne must leave the club for his own good. The Blues have an avalanche of attacking midfielders at their disposal, so Mourinho won’t mind sanctioning a loan move for him.

Earlier this month, De Bruyne was linked with a move to Belgian club Anderlecht, as Club manager Herman Van Holsbeeck was looking at the possibility to lure Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea on loan. In an interview to Het Laatste Nieuws, he told:

“Kevin could come to Anderlecht in January – there’s a big chance. It’s not an easy deal, but it is something we are investigating. The World Cup being next year makes this possible – he wants regular football so he makes the competition.”

However, Belgian newspaper Sportwereld published next day that De Bruyne cannot join any Belgium club because of contractual restrictions. De Bruyne himself admitted that he has had offers from Germany, with Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen are thought to be interested parties.

Yesterday, it was reported that De Bruyne is wanted by La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid. Now, today Bundesliga club Wolfsburg has also joined the party to land the blonde midfielder. The technical director of the club Klaus Allofs in the newspaper Allgemeine Wolf Burger said that they are willing to land him only for a permanent deal or a loan move with an option to purchase him next summer.

Overall, as it stands, De Bruyne’s future seems lies away from Chelsea but whether the Blues will let him go permanently remains to be seen. But, his future will be more-or-less sorted by the end of this month.
