Celtic fans were angry with Moussa Dembele after his acrimonious departure from the club.

His departure from the Bhoys was inevitable but the way it happened left a bad feeling. He joined Lyon in 2019 after spending two memorable seasons at Celtic Park.

Dembele scored 51 goals in 94 games for Celtic between 2016-2018 and was a key player under Brendan Rodgers. He won back to back domestic trebles at the club and was a cult-hero among the fans.

Since his departure, Dembele has mended fences with the fans and has always asserted his love for Celtic. He tweets about Celtic whenever he feels necessary, and rarely miss out on any opportunity to take a jibe at Rangers (the club’s arch-rivals).

Yesterday, Celtic’s official website revisited one of their memorable wins over Rangers and shared the story via their official Twitter handle.

In 2018, Celtic defeated Rangers 4-0 in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor, Dembele, and Olivier Ntcham scored the goals on that day for the Bhoys.

Dembele scored from the spot, but according to the club, it ‘was a thing of sheer beauty’.

The 23-year-old quickly took to Twitter to respond to Celtic’s tweet, saying: “That was nice wasn’t it Bhoys and Ghirls ?!” and adding hashtags #DerbyIsCelticDay #ThisIsHowItFeelsToBeCeltic #AnnounceNineInARowNowPls

Many Celtic fans quickly responded to his tweet and urged him to make a swift return to Glasgow. Dembele has been linked with a move to some of the heavyweight English clubs, and it is highly unlikely that the Frenchman will return to Celtic anytime soon.
