Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos has astonishingly revealed that Manchester United was never an option for him despite longstanding interest from the Red Devils over the past few months.
The claims comes right after we reported that United have given up in their chase for the German star.
The 24 year old midfielder is determined to stay with the Bavarians next season and fight for greater glory under manager Pep Guardiola.
Kroos who is currently training with German national squad in South Tyrol for their World Cup preparations said in an interview to national daily Bild, “I expect to play next year at Bayern. And now I want to concentrate fully on the World Cup.”
“There was a lot of speculation. But Manchester United is and was not an issue.”
Bayern PresidentĀ Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had also recently promised: “Toni Kroos is secured next season for Bayern to play.”
While the recent developments can be considered yet another failure by Manchester United to lure a world class player in recent times, the other side of the story could be that KroosĀ was only pushing Bayern to give him a better contract.
