Louis van Gaal is yet to be appointed as the official manager of Manchester United but the media is already speculating on the players he might bring to Old Trafford in the summer. One of them could be Thomas Muller of Bayern Munich.
Muller has scored 13 goals and bagged 10 assists this season, but is still not a first choice player under Pep Guardiola.
German magazine Kicker in the op-ed column recently speculated that Muller could leave Bayern in the summer and, most importantly, that the 25-year-old could join Manchester United, when Van Gaal is appointed as the Red Devils’ new coach after the World Cup.
An insider of the club told Bild: “If Guardiola knows what to do with Muller little, there are plenty of coaches who know a great deal to do with him.”
The new manager of United will be given a hefty transfer budget in the summer, thought to be in the region of around £200m, and Bild reckons Muller, who has a market value of €45m and a contract with Bayern till 2017, is top of his wishlist.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented on the matter saying: “If a player does not feel comfortable with Bayern Munich, he must come to my office. Then you have to talk about it.”
Muller has refused to comment on his future, which is sure to add further fuel to the fire.
