Everton captain, Phil Jagielka, is ready to leave the Merseyside club in the January transfer window. The England defender has been linked with a move to Sunderland, with David Moyes eager to be re-united with his former captain.
West Ham have shown an interest in him as well, but with the Hammers signing José Fonte from Southampton this month, chances are less that Jagielka would move to London.
Other Premier League clubs who have shown an interest in the 34-year-old defender are Bournemouth, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Swansea and Southampton.
Jagielka joined Sheffield United for £4m and has gone on to make more than 300 appearances for Everton. In addition, he has made 40 appearances for his national team. Jagielka is likely to leave the Toffees next week, ending his ten years association with the club.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Everton are monitoring the situation of Chelsea’s veteran defender, Branislav Ivanović. The 32-year-old defender has made 13 appearances for the Blues this season in the Premier League. However, most of them have come in the form of late substitutes.
Ivanović is in the last six months of his current one-year deal with Chelsea, and has been linked with a move to Italy. It remains to be seen whether Ivanović will be sold in January, as Antonio Conte may like to retain his service as a back up option. Furthermore, Ivanović may want to end his Chelsea career on a high, as he has a golden chance of picking up another Premier League trophy to his name.
