Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has time and again stated that he is happy in Madrid and not looking to move elsewhere. But that hasn’t stopped big clubs from trying their luck in signing him.
During the summer transfer window, Premier League giants Chelsea reportedly showed a keen interest in signing Koke, and had even lodged a €65m bid, €5m over his release clause, to prise him away from Vicente Calderon.
Koke is a talented versatile midfielder, who is usually deployed by Diego Simeone on the wings but he is equally capable of playing in central midfield.
According to reports from Spanish newspaper AS, Barcelona have revived their interest in Koke, and may look to tempt him with a big money offer in January.
Barcelona have already signed Atletico’s Arda Turn in the summer, and may look to add Koke, who is seen by many as the natural successor to Xavi Hernandez in the Spain national team.
However, Atletico themselves are looking to mount a serious challenge for the La Liga title, so hard to see them part ways with Koke in January.
In other news, French magazine Le 10 Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that Chelsea would be willing to make a big money offer for PSG defender Marquinhos.
The young defender has struggled to get regular games this season, and could be looking for a move in order to continue his progress.
Chelsea had an earlier €45m bid rejected in the summer for Marquinhos, but the Blues haven’t given up on him yet.
The Blues wanted to sign John Stones from Everton in the summer but the Merseyside club had rejected three huge offers for their star defender.
Barcelona are equally keeping an eye on Marquinhos but they aren’t willing such a high transfer fee for him.
Should Chelsea make an offer in January for Marquinhos?
