Tottenham target Fernando Cavenaghi has admitted his interest in making a move to the Premier League, but it’ll come at a price.
The Bordeaux star has been linked with Spurs in the last week, and Cavenaghi says he would be interested in moving to England. However, any move might have to come with a doubling of his salary of £30,000 per week, according to the man himself.
At the same time, Bordeaux are attempting to nip the speculation in the bud, saying that they won’t as much as entertain a January offer from Tottenham, even with figures of £12.9m being mentioned.
A striker should be a priority for Harry Redknapp in January, and the former River Plate star could be just the goal-getter he needs to add to his ranks. He had a slow start at Bordeaux after his move from Spartak Moscow in January 2007, but he netted 22 goals last season and has scored eight league goals so far this season.
Bordeaux will obviously need some coaxing to sell Cavenaghi. Potential transfer fee notwithstanding, they could be in the Champions League knockout rounds and fighting for the Ligue 1 title, so unless a suitable replacement for their top scorer can be found, Cavenaghi won’t be going anywhere in January.
