Portugal 7-0 North Korea
2010 FIFA World Cup
21 June 2010
It was a dominating win for Portugal as they crushed North Korea 7-0 in a Group G match on Monday.
The scoring would start in the 29th minute as Raul Meireles scored the opening goal. That would be the only goal of the first half and it wasn’t until the second half that the flood gates opened. Simao scored in the 53rd minute, Hugo Almeida added one in the 56th minute, and Tiago scored in the 60th minute to make it 5-0 and seal the win.
Portugal was not done though as Liedson scored in the 81st minute and captain Cristiano Ronaldo added the final goal in the 87th minute. It was a fantastic performance from Portugal who are all but qualified for the next round.
Unless they lose by a large margin to Brazil and Ivory Coast beats North Korea by a similar margin, Portugal will be moving out of the group stage. North Korea’s chances of advancing are now gone
